case studies
The most important mobile launch of the year, which is undoubtedly the debut of the flagship Galaxy S series smartphones, requires an appropriate setting and proven communication solutions. But how do you ensure journalists and creatives can create dedicated content without compromising their health in the Covid-19 era? Does a remote product preview have to be a boring video presentation?

An extraordinary product, even in a communication-challenged environment, deserves a unique entourage. This is why we decided to arrange remote demonstration for the media, but we wouldn't be ourselves if we didn't realise it with a slight twist. In collaboration with Crunch Content House, we invited leading journalists and video makers to a remote shooting set, allowing them to look at the premiere devices from the director's perspective.
activities
- Preparation of a remote shooting plan
- Enabling journalists and video makers to manage the work of the film crew and the precision robot Bolt controlling camera movements
- Preparation by Crunch studio of a predefined catalogue of Bolt robot movements
- Use of mono-colour arrangements corresponding to the colours of the Samsung Galaxy S21 product launch
Remote shooting replaced the impossible-to-follow pre-release physical demonstration of the latest smartphones in the series of Galaxy S21 5G. Journalists and video makers, like directors, were able to manage the work of the film crew and precise Bolt robot controlling camera movements. As a result, they were able to create unique video content and 'play around' with Samsung's latest smartphone for premiere releases. And all in a secure, remote way, without having to leave home.
"In the time it would normally take a production studio to work on a few shots, we had to produce footage for 20 invited journalists and youtubers. Each guest had an hour 'one-on-one' with the production team, during which they could decide on the nature of the shots being realised."
Kamil Gołdy, account director, d*fusion communication.
Technology
On the logistical side, the project was a real challenge. The realisation was handled by the Warsaw-based Crunch production studio, specialising in the production of digital content.
To streamline the workflow and, above all, eliminate the tedious programming of camera movements in real time, the producers of Crunch prepared a pre-defined catalogue of robot movements. Based on these guidelines, journalists and youtubers were able to realise their own footage, deciding on the length and dynamics of the shots, the direction of camera movement or what happens on the smartphone screens on set.
Master of the foreground
In realising the remote preview of Samsung's latest flagship smartphone, we wanted to communicate the unique features of the device. Therefore, the photo set was prepared to further emphasise the design of the latest Galaxy smartphones. To this end, we created special mono-colour arrangements corresponding to the colours of the premiere products - pink Galaxy S21 5G, violet Galaxy S21+ 5G and black Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. The formula of the show also referred to one of the most important photographic features of the premiere flagship - the Director's Perspective, which allows you to switch between lenses and select the best shots. It was in the role of directors that journalists and creatives were invited to our remote shooting set.
effects
- More than 25 materials prepared and published just after the official launch of the Galaxy S21 5G series
- The total reach of the materials exceeded 500,000
- Great feedback from the creators involved
"After eight years of working in the media, it feels like you've seen it all at events, but no one has come up with an idea even close to the remote recordings made by d*fusion before."
Marcin Połowianiuk, Spidersweb.pl
"d*fusion came up with an unusual initiative that turned out to be a hit."
Robert Nawrowski, Robsoniqe
"It was pleasant to watch an automaton do half my work for me. I would ask for a robot like this every day."
Paweł Warzecha, Mobzilla
"Difficult times call for unusual solutions. The remote shoot was a great idea and the execution itself was excellent."
